1. National industry standards and accrediting agencies implore schools of nursing to target 33% of underrepresented students and equity gaps in the recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of diverse students. The college's HealStart program provides first critical steps to a pathway for students interested in completing the rigorous CNA, RN, LVN, AA RN, BS RN (transfer) and surgical technology programs to be better prepared for and to complete academic programs and, in turn, be prepared to fill high wage allied health job including the 622 positions currently available in the region.

Through the use of a third party virtual private server students will learn a subset of important professional skills necessary to make them more job-ready than current solutions available at the college. Students will be able to use the actual technical hosting tools that most industry professionals will be expected to use for cPanel web hosting, setting up FTP user accounts, installing databases, database users, and managing database permissions, cPanel file and database backup and restoration, and DNS management.

Students will learn to use hosting as a tool and not merely as a host repository which will augment their experiences from the lower level course skills attained so that the result is a richer and more realistic experience with the most common professional web hosting tools and techniques that will be required for readiness for higher wage jobs that should result in increased employment for graduates who will find those jobs more desirable and employers will welcome MiraCosta College graduates.

Over a two year period wil provide the necessary resources to create a CSIT cyber security program. Students completing the cyber security certificate of achievement of associates degree in cyber security will be prepared for jobs requiring cyber security knowledge for occupations such as field support technician, law enforcement, customer technical support representative, and technical support specialist. These jobs include employees who are required to pass certification courses to meet mandated polity for Department of Defense related positions in cyber security.
