Welding Technology, while not a new discipline at Pierce, will be treated like a new program, With a recommendation to increase sections, hire a full-time instructional assistant, and a full time instructor the resources need to improve this program almost look like a those need for a new program. The plan is to improve the welding facility to include welding-metal fabrication capabilities to increase the programs capacity to train for industry needs. The inclusion of a new instructor will increase the availability of courses and in different time blocks, allowing more students to take classes. The increase in equipment, students and sections requires more instructional support. A full time Instructional assistant for welding will allow the program to grow and succeed. The program curriculum will be aligned with industry-based certification and a degree and certificate will be submitted for approval.
